The Difference between Holidays and Travel

google.com

Do you travel, or do you go on holiday?
Many people would say that there is a distinct difference between the backpacker who spends 6 months working their way across New Zealand, and the holiday goer who lounges on the beach in Tenerife for 14 days. But what exactly is the difference? What makes one trip a holiday and one trip a “travel experience”?
It is all a matter of perspective and personal preference. Some people couldn’t imagine staying in a grimy hostel in Amsterdam where they have to climb into a rickety bunk above a snoring drunk Australian, and others wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else.
Travel writer  can go abroad for weeks at a time, which might seem like the idyllic lifestyle to others, but they are spending many hours researching and writing while they are away while others would never want to bring their work on the road with them. Everyone has a different attitude to travel, but here are a couple of the important distinctions between holidays and travel:

Escaping Work or Seeking Adventure?
Sometimes, the most important factor that separates holidays from travel is whether or not you are purely escaping your work or responsibilities and seeking relaxation. A holiday is a trip where you completely switch off all your worries and cares and simply pamper yourself as much as you want, and there are many resorts around the world where you can escape to a world where the most difficult decision is whether to attend the free tennis lessons or continue working on your tan.
Travel, however, is when you are not running away from work but running towards new challenges. Let’s face it, travel is hard work! You choose to go places not because they are familiar and easy, but because they are foreign and exciting. You don’t need anyone to bring you fruity drinks, because half of the fun is figuring out how you will fend for yourself in this new environment. It’s the ultimate test to your independence, and the rewards are exhilarating.
Attitude towards Spending
Another difference between holidays and travel is that most people will have a different attitude towards the financial side of these two ventures. I know it’s not right to generalize, and there will be exceptions to this, but most of the time people save up a lot of money for a holiday and then splurge for the short duration of their getaway. They treat themselves to all of the tourist attractions and meals out that they desire, because they know they will only be on holiday for a week or two so they might as well enjoy it. They save for months so that they can live like kings for a couple of weeks.
However, when it comes to long term budget travel most backpackers will have a very different attitude towards money. They will work to find the best deals and save money on the road, so that their travel can last longer. They don’t mind staying in hostels and cheap hotels, because they spend more time exploring their destination than hanging out at their accommodation. They find ways to make money on the road to keep their journey going longer, such as blogging, working holidays visas, seasonal work, and working for accommodation. Backpackers are used to people wondering why they would rather eat street food with the locals than treat themselves to the finest restaurant in town, but they don’t mind because their travel experience is not about living in luxury for a short period of time, but getting a true experience of the destination for as long as they can afford.

THE PLACES I'VE VISITED

Bira Island
As one of the main tourism icon of Jakarta, Seribu Islands was already known as one of the tourist destinations the most preferred by citizens of the capital and the other, especially at the weekend. Seribu Island is considered as one of the places that is quite easy to reach in terms of distance and cost. Many of the travelers who use their vacation to visit the islands in the Seribu Islands.
To enjoy the beauty of Seribu Islands certainly that comes first to our mind just Tidung island, Pramuka island or Pari island.

Well maybe you should try visit other islands in the Seribu Islands. One of them is the Bira island. And I'm going to tell you about Bira Island and I command you to go there because you won't regret it.

Bira Island is an island located in Seribu Islands cluster. Bira Island is not as large as Tidung island or Pramuka Island, but truly an exotic underwater beauty. With the white sand beaches and the clear&blue water it's certainly will hypnotize any tourists who stops on this island.
I try to share my experiences during a trip to Bira Island, Seribu Islands. It takes for ± 4 hours from the Port of Muara Angke. And for the trip that time I joined with one of the travel agency.
Walking on the pier, Bira Island offered a fascinating underwater view with coral reefs and fish on this island. That makes the island is memorable it's because of the atmosphere of the island is very beautiful and quiet. Bira has not been as busy as Tidung. This island looks very private, very limited facilities, only a few cottages are on the island of Bira. Electricity was only lit up at night and the one who lives in  Bira Island is the guards Island.
The first day I visited five snorkeling spots at one time, there are Panjang Island, Gosong Pasir Island, Macan Gundul Island, Tongkeng Island and Matahari Island. The five snorkeling spots made me amazed with the underwater beauty. Flow calm and clear water makes me to linger along the unspoiled coral reefs and marine life within it. It was getting late, the sun was about to bury the light. I rushed to get to the nearby island in Pulau Panjang to see the sunset. I spent the time to see the sunset and capture every moment with my friends. What a beautiful day!
Settle for a day of snorkeling and see the sunset, I decided to go back to the cottage and took a rest. I felt that my holiday was almost done. Then the next day, I didn't want to waste to see the sunrise and continued snorkling nearby Bira Island pier. Once again I felt amazed by the diversity of underwater fauna of Bira Island. And sadly, I had to go and rushed to leave the Bira Island. This holiday was so impressive. It turns out in the middle of bustle of Jakarta and buildings that lined the mall there are still beautiful and natural as Bira Island. Bira Island in the Seribu Islands can be the best recommendations for family and friends to go.

The Palace/Keraton Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta Palace (Jogja) or often called Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace is located in the heart of Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Indonesia. Because the place is in the middle of Jogja, where its taken in a straight line between mount Merapi and Kidul sea, then the Palace becomes the center of both. Keraton or Kraton Jogja is the last kingdom of all kingdoms who ever triumphed in the land of Java. When the Hindu-Buddhist kingdom ends then continued with the first Islamic kingdom in Demak, then stand other kingdoms like Mataram Islam which was established by Sultan Agung then walked and emerged Sultan Palace established by Sultan Hamengku Bowono I. Until now, the palace of Jogja still save a culture that is amazing.
I went to the palace when I had to attend my cousin's wedding, so me and my family decided to stopped by to the palace before the wedding.
The Palace is a physical representation of the Javanese Cosmos, charged with the divine forces of the universe. Every detail, tree and pavilion has mystical meaning, and if you take a moment you can just, perhaps, feel a little spark in the air.

The palace itself is very cool and comfortable, so you should not be afraid when you got tired. Because shady trees and gazebo seats are available there to sit and relax for a moment as they walk around the Palace. Keraton Yogyakarta, the culture and beauty of Java is there. So, mark this place for a visit when you in Yogyakarta.
